Online piano or voice lessons are available to adults and children via video conferencing services such as Zoom or Skype.

Lessons can be one-half hour or a full hour.
Let’s Get Started!
If you have a child or teen who is interested in online lessons, or you are an adult seeking online voice or piano lessons, contact Juliana for current tuition rates and availability.
After receiving your message via the contact form, Juliana will contact you to set up your introductory lesson to test your equipment setup, and schedule lessons.
On your lesson day, set up your equipment, login a few minutes before your lesson time, and Juliana will contact you at your lesson time.
Minimum Equipment Requirements
You will need some basic equipment in order to do online lessons:
- A laptop or computer with a high-speed internet connection or an iPad that can be positioned near your piano (if studying piano lessons) or placed in the room where Juliana can see your face and upper body (if studying voice).
- A Wi-Fi booster will ensure a better connection. An ethernet cable can be plugged into the modem to also ensure a better connection.
- If studying piano, you will need an acoustic piano or digital piano with 88 touch-sensitive keys and a pedal.
- The faster the internet connection, the better the audio and video quality of the lessons.
Additional Equipment
These additions will contribute to the best online music lesson experience possible:
- A high quality external webcam. This allows Juliana to see you much better.
- An over-the-ears headset with a microphone is an easy way to get both a microphone and headphones all in one. Using this will help increase the quality of online lessons.
- Instead of the above headset, you might want to explore the following:
- A high quality USB microphone. This will greatly improve the quality of the audio. The Blue Yeti and Blue Snowball are excellent choices and are highly recommended for online music lessons.
- Headphones, AirPods, earbuds, etc., are very useful but not absolutely necessary.
Audio and Video Suggestions
Here are a few ways to create an even better video and audio experience for your online lessons.
- Connect your laptop to the modem with an ethernet cord. This will help to eliminate some of the lag time that can be experienced during online lessons.
- Keep your computer or iPad power cord plugged in throughout the duration of the lesson.
- Position your microphone so that it can pick up the sound of your voice without picking up other sounds around you.
- You may choose to use a headset instead of external speakers to reduce echo.
- Use a laptop computer or a newer iPad instead of another type of tablet or smartphone.
Policy
- A parent or guardian must be nearby and available to help during online lessons for students ages 8 and under.
- Failure to meet for a lesson without notifying Juliana in an advance via email forfeits the lesson.
- Piano books and materials will be decided on during an introductory lesson, and Juliana will have them shipped to you. Or you can make the purchase yourself.
- If you have questions or need help during the week, you are always welcome to email or text Juliana.
- Students will adhere to Studio Policies already found on the website.
Tuition and Payment
Students will be invoiced for lessons for an entire semester. Payment by check is due within 30 days of receipt of the invoice. If it works better for your budget, you can make two installment payments; one at the beginning of the term, and the other in the middle of the term.
